Dott.ssa Mag. Cecilia Gori – Midwife

My Way

My Way

As a midwife you cannot “work”, you can only “be” a midwife.
And I’m a midwife with heart, soul and the necessary professional skills.

With the admission to the Medical University “Agostino Gemelli” in Rome, a path opened that is fascinating me since 2009. During my training as a midwife, I collected a lot of experience in one of the largest clinics in Italy.

I was incredibly lucky to feel called to this job, so – right after graduation – I flew to Papua New Guinea where I could work as a volunteer midwife in the Health Center of Mercy in Lae and in the villages in the Morobe Province. In the wonderful virgin country I learned what is really important in life: laugh, love, pray and have something to eat. I knew myself much more deeply and again and learned that you can always be grateful.

When I came back to Italy, I earned a master’s degree in order to expand my skills and since “life is movement” (Dr. Still, osteopath) after a few years where I could practice my dream job, I decided to follow my heart – the heart my husband – to Austria and a new world opened up for me: to accompany women and families in the wonder of being parent, was still my goal. Whether in Italy, Papua New Guinea or Austria!
So after the nostrification I started – as indipendent midwife in Villach – to assist and accompany many women and families in this small big step in their lives.

Up until the birth of my daughter, I assisted many births in Schwarzach im Pongau and enjoyed the privilege of being one of the first to touch and caress the children and to welcome them into this world.

I am also very happy to teach Midwifery at the Carinthian University of Applied Sciences. I am very enthusiastic about the students’ curiosity and am excited to pass on my knowledge, my clinical experience and my love for this job.
We midwives are a quiet island in the sea of pain, uncertainty, fear and tears of joy and it is very important to me that midwives-to-be understand what a miracle is taking place in front of us: for this midwives need competent specialist knowledge, vigilant eyes and holy hands.

Today I have two children and a job that fulfills me and if I am allowed to exercise it so intensely, is thanks to God and thanks to my incomparable husband: I would not be me without him and my family.
